City pilot Eric Agolla Lugalia shocks Kenyans with Campaign to Defend Himself in Sh722M squabble years after he faced fraud charges.

The well-known Kenyan figure, Captain Eric Agolla Lugalia, has once again found himself at the center of controversy following a recent interview related to a high-stakes legal battle involving a city bank.

Years after he confessed to defrauding a businessman out of a prime piece of land valued at Sh250 million, questions surrounding his integrity have resurfaced.

This latest development comes on the heels of a press conference held by Lugalia, where he sought to influence the court’s decision regarding a request from executives at Stanbic Bank to suspend ongoing police investigations into the matter.

Despite his current predicament, Lugalia has not been previously associated with fraudulent activities and has been engaged in a protracted legal struggle at the Milimani courts to clear his name from the allegations that have dogged him for years.

Our investigations show that the scandal-hit pilot is the owner of Air Afrik Aviation Ltd which is at the centre of the Sh722M war.

A few days ago, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) started probing the Stanbic bank bosses and the bank bosses moved to the high court to stop the probe.

Lugalia after noticing the development moved with speed and countered the bank’s application with his exclusive press conference to try and sway the court.

The case has attracted public interest, as it also involves Stanbic Bank’s CEO Joshua Oigara, who challenged a DCI  summons related to the dispute. Oigara, who was recently summoned to provide statements regarding the prolonged disagreement between the bank and Lugalia’s aviation company, argues that the case was previously investigated and cleared by regulatory authorities.

Lugalia, who faces additional claims in court related to financial disputes, remains firm in his stance, alleging his company’s rights have been compromised. The case continues to unfold, with both sides presenting arguments aimed at shaping the investigation’s course.
